Dr. Mark Friedman
All patients are seen by
Dr. Mark N. Friedman. He will work with you to obtain a
careful medical history, including a detailed explanation of your symptoms and
review of past diagnostic studies. Please be patient. To some extent, the type of examination
will depend on what you tell Dr. Friedman, but will generally include a full
neurological examination. This involves testing your vision, hearing, sensation,
movement, strength, coordination, as well as tests of mental function. If you
are referred by a physician, a complete report will be sent to your doctor. Your
follow-up visits will consist of a review of your condition, recent test
results, and an updated list of your medications.
Please have this list
available for review.
Your Diagnosis
After your medical history is reviewed
and examination is completed, Dr. Friedman will discuss the possible
diagnoses with you. Usually there is more than one possibility.
Diagnostic studies may be used to confirm or reject them.
Studies may
include blood tests (e.g. hormone levels), radiological tests (e.g.
CT or MRI scanning), electrophysiological tests (e.g. EEG, EMG),
and neuropsychological assessment. You are encouraged to contact
us about the results of any studies you may have through THE
NEW CENTER.
Treatment
A variety of possible treatments
may be recommended to you including hormonal therapy and medications.
Prescriptions for medications can be dispensed at your local pharmacy. Prescriptions for natural hormone therapies can
be obtained through licensed compounding pharmacies. Preferred compounding pharmacies can be recommended to you
by THE NEW CENTER upon
request.
