Dr. Mark
Friedman has studied and conducted research in several areas pertaining
to neurology and neuroendocrinology. He is particularly interested in

- Neuroendocrine dysfunction in neurological and
psychiatric disorders.
- The molecular biology of the neuroendocrine system in
epilepsy and aging.
- Transcranial magnetic stimulation applications in
epilepsy.
- Preventive and holistic health issues in neurology
and internal medicine.
- The effect of hormones on epilepsy.
- The effects of epilepsy on hormones and the brain.
- Menstrually-related changes in mood, anxiety and
behavior (PMS).
- Menstrual migraine.
- Reproductive endocrine disorders in women and men,
including those with temporal lobe epilepsy.
- Menopause and its effects on epilepsy and behavior.
- Neuroendocrine disorders of the hypothalamus and
pituitary gland.
- Anxiety disorders related to a hormonal imbalance.
- The effects of hormones on multiple sclerosis,
autoimmune disorders, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and
other types of movement disorders.
- The role of hormones in aging.
- Recommendations pertaining to hormone replacement
therapy in women and men.
